Motorsport Australia Racing Medicals

(Formerly CAMS Racing Medicals)

A Motorsport Australia racing medical is required depending on the type of competition licence you hold.

A Motorsport Australia (formerly CAMS) racing medical generally includes:

  • Full medical history review

  • Blood pressure and cardiovascular assessment

  • Vision examination (including colour vision where required)

  • Musculoskeletal assessment to ensure you can safely operate a race vehicle

  • Urinalysis

  • Resting ECG (required for many circuit and rally licences)

  • Additional specialist testing if there are underlying medical conditions or age-related requirements.

Current requirements include:

  • First-time applicants for circuit and rally licences require a full medical examination regardless of age.

  • Competitors aged 60 years and over require a medical examination every two years for licence renewal.

  • International licence holders have additional requirements, including cardiology reviews and exercise stress testing depending on age.
